Professional Garden Design Process

How We Deliver Your Dream Garden

The design process is a phased and collaborative approach. First, we take the time to get to know you, your lifestyle, your needs and goals. This is then translated into a design, and throughout the design process we will remain in contact with you and will update you on progress with regular communication after each phase. Once all the design work is complete, we can work with vetted and talented landscapers to help implement the design, bringing your new space to life.. To help take the stress off you, we can be available for site visits throughout the build process to ensure the project is progressing well.

Consultation

The design process starts with a site visit and initial consultation. We’ll walk your existing space and discuss your ideas and explore key topics including how you want to use your garden and your aspirations and needs. We will then follow up this visit with a formal offer. This offer pack includes a detailed written client brief, more details on the design process and our fee proposal

Site Survey

For small, uncomplicated gardens (i.e. few level changes etc.), we will visit and carry our a site analysis and survey. For larger, more complex sites, a full topographical survey is required. We can recommend experienced professional surveyors for your locality.

Concept Design

We will visit and present our draft Design concepts. You will see 3D CAD illustrations, 2D plans (where applicable at this stage), hard landscape material ideas, potential planting palette ideas and a for medium to larger gardens, a simple video walkthrough film.

Masterplans & Design Pack

Once you are fully happy with your design concept, we will translate your design into various masterplans, construction drawings, lighting plans and specifications – everything your landscaper will need to build your new garden.

Planting Design

Once we have agreed your planting palette a stage 3, we will work up a detailed planting scheme and plan.

Project Implementation

This stage is optional, but we do find that many of our clients do like us to be involved at this stage. Either they have busy lives and appreciate our support, or they would like our input in ensuring their agreed design vision Is delivered. For this stage, we are often involved in 2 areas – Tendering and Project implementation. We can pull together a tender package to be sent to contractors to quote for your project. We work with a range of trusted contractors who can bring the designs to life, or you are welcome to use a Landscaping business of your choosing. Once the build is underway, we offer the option for regular site visits to monitor progress, respond to changes and ensure the project is built according to the plans. The level of regularity is up to you - it can be as little as a site visit at the beginning and end of build, to weekly minuted meetings.
